Mother of the Bride Jacket

Posted on Nov 19, 2013 by in Mother of The Bride |

This Mother of the Bride came to me with a very pretty dress that needed minimal alterations; but it was sleeveless; and as most MOB’s are,  and she really wanted her arms covered.  So we decided on a simple jacket to coordinate with the colors in the dress.

Off to Gail K Fabrics again . . . .

Why is it that every time I need to match a color/fabric, it’s a very difficult color to match?  The fabric I needed to match was beige. Who knew there could be so many shades of beige! But this one has a touch of rose in it.  I found 2 different fabrics that I thought looked pretty good as a match, so I got them both. When I got home, I realized only one of them really matched! I ended up using the stretch satin with a touch of rose metallic in it.  The lining is  a gorgeous Bemburg, that matches perfectly.

The jacket went together fairly quickly. Had it done in about 8 hours. And I must say – it really is a nice jacket! Even though she wanted something simple and not too fancy, it turned out very elegant!  But if it were me – I’d throw it on with a pair of jeans and a white blouse, after the wedding!

It looks perfect with her dress, and fits her like a dream – so everyone is happy!
